At Wise Tortoise, we are passionate about connecting businesses with seasoned IT professionals. Our focus is on the often-overlooked talented crop of IT workers with over 30 years expertise.

These individuals may have written code for the UK’s Income Support System in the 1980’s – a system that still runs the same COBOL code like many other government systems – or they might have worked on banking systems, where the code they wrote decades earlier still quietly powers 95% of ATM transactions and 80% of in-person banking activities.

These systems still need maintaining, and while they are eventually modernised, they are often just migrated to a new platform but running the same underlying code. This means that many legacy skills required to maintain and update these systems will still be needed for years to come, and these skills are very rarely taught these days, so the talent pool is gradually depleting.

Let’s harness this knowledge before it disappears!
